Kelvin was born and raised in the city of Chicago, Illinois. He lived with his mother Lynette Hayden, father Kelvin Hayden Sr. and sister Kendra Hayden. He attended Hubbard High School, where he began playing football. Then, he went to Joliet Junior College and took part in various inter-college tournaments. The onset of Hayden’s football career began right from when he was in school, where he played as a cornerback and a quarterback. He was his team’s first All-Area and All-Conference pick, and he then attended Joliet Junior College and led its football team. He became a two-time All-Conference selection and an All-Region pick. He and his team were accoladed by the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) for their win at the National Championship win in 2002.
In 2005, Hayden got drafted by the Indianapolis Colts. He became a rage in the NFL community after he led Colts to win against Chicago Bears in the Super Bowl XVI in 2005 and against Philadelphia Eagles in 2006.
He signed a contract with the Chicago Bears in 2013 and played for them for over a year before suffering a hamstring injury, which forced him to miss the entire 2013 season. He resigned in 2014 but then came back as a substitute for Marquess Wilson. However, he was finally let go in September after he faced multiple injuries.
