Early Life & Biography
The Icelandic pop musician was born on the 21st of November 1965 in Reykjavik in Iceland to Guomundur Gunnarsson (father) and Hildur Runa (mother). She did not enjoy her biological father as her mother, who was an activist, divorced her father, an electrician.
She joined Reykjavik school Barnamusikskoli where she studied playing some instruments such as flute and piano. She grew up in an environment that was somehow musical since her stepfather was a famous guitarist. She, therefore, developed as a musician, and as a matter of fact, her recordings were aired on national radio after her teachers sent them. She was barely a teenager at that time.
She further released her first album when she was 12 named Bjork, recorded by the Falkinn record label. She was even part of the ‘Spit and Snot ’band, which was an all-girl punk band.
In 1979, she formed the jazz group, which she called Exodus.
Personal Life
Bjork expected Thor`s son before she married him. She, however, married him in1986. This relationship did not last as they divorced a year later.
It is said that she was earlier in a relationship with a Brazilian musician Eumir Deodato who was much older than she was. Much about this relationship is not exposed to the media.
Bjork has been in many other relationships afterward. In 1993 she was in yet another relationship with a French Photographer. The relationship too lasted for only a year before she got into another relationship with the British man, Tricky, who is a composer.

She got married to Mathew Barney in 2000, an American, and had a daughter Isadora Barney. This was a long term as they were together for close to 13 years. She divorced him in 2013 and has remained single to date.
She had a mini-controversy when she pushed down a news reporter Bangkok who approached her son after she refused to talk to the reporters as she landed in Bangkok. She, however, apologized and was fortunately forgiven by the victim.

Career
Bjork began her career early as a teen when she formed the Spit and Snot band and went on growing in her career. In 1979, she formed Exodus, a jazz fusion group. After graduated from music school in1982, she collaborated with Jakob Magnusson, and together they released an album named Miranda in 1983.
They later named their band the Icelandic Kuki band. The band released another album in 1984 called The Eye. They also performed in several festivals in Europe, such as the Roskilde Festival in Denmark during their two month trip to Europe. She wrote some poems and published them in a book the same year.
She formed another band called ‘ Sugarcubes ’ in 1986 and released a single ‘Birthday ’ soon afterward a song which became popular in Europe, especially in the United Kingdom, and as a result, they won a contract in the ‘One Little Indian ’ label. The band became immensely popular, and they released another hit song, ‘Life`s Too Good,’ which also made headlines in Iceland.
Bjork left the band for London, where she released a solo hit song ‘Human Behaviour’ in 1993, whose video was aired on MTV. She was working closely with producer Nellee Hooper. She went ahead and released her first solo album the same year. This was her big entry into stardom as a solo artist as the album was named the album of the year by the British New Musical Express (NME) and further was certified by platinum of the United States.
She released her second solo album in 1995 named ‘ Post,’ which was produced by a group of producers among them was Nellee Hooper, Howie B, among others.
