Christoph Waltz was born in Vienna, Austria, on 4 October 1956, to his parents Johannes Waltz and Elisabeth Urbancic. His father was a German set designer while his mother was an Austrian costume designer. He comes from a family of artists and actors, including his maternal grandmother, who was a silent film actress, his great-grandfather, Georg Reimers, who was an actor.
