Eli Tomac started his racing career at the young age of 15. In 2010, he made his debut riding for the Geico Honda at the 250cc class AMA Pro Motocross in Rancho Cordova, California. Tomac won the race and became the second rider in the history of professional motocross race to win in his debut season.
In the 2011 season, Tomac ended with two wins and six podium finishes. The following season, he won the 250cc Supercross championship and had seven podium finishes. In 2013, he won the outdoor 250cc title and finished two points behind German racer Ken Roczen in the 250cc Supercross championship.
Despite being injured in the 2014 and 2015 season, Tomac had eleven podium finishes, and five moto wins. In the 2017 season, he won 8 of the first 14 races. By the end of the 17th round, he finished second and was 5 points short in the points race for the season.
