Gene Watson is famous for Country music, which he began in the 1960s. He was, however, not a star musician at that time, he only performed in night clubs while supplementing his income through working at an auto body shop (Houston Auto body shop).
Gene`s music light started shinning when his album (Love in the Hot Afternoon) was picked by the Capital Records and aired nationally. He had earlier recorded bad water, which was a hit in the region. Gene, later on, started rising to stardom when he released a track that was 3rd on the Billboard magazine Hot Country Singles chart in 1975.
Gene recorded many hits afterward, which propelled his career. Some of his best hit songs were Farewell Party, Where Love Begins, Should I Go Crazy, Nothing Sure Looked Good among many others that were celebrated by country music fans nationally. Gene actually drew the name of his Band from one of his songs, Farewell hence the band, Farewell Party Band.
Adding to Gene`s music career success, in2002, he was included in the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. Further, he was added to the inaugural class of the Houston Music Hall of Fame in 2013
During Gene`s celebration of 50 years in music in 2012, he released some ore hit songs, including his first-ever single on the radio If it Was That Easy. Gena made a milestone in his career during this time as the songs he released were re-recorded and released first by Carat Music Label, which he owns. Gene went on, releasing more songs even more than before. His CD with 13 tracks was released in 2016, and the CD contains some traditional country music songs. Gene has also done a Gospel music CD titled, My Gospel Roots in 2018.
