In the year 1946, Jeffrey Garten was born into a Jewish family. His parents are Ruth Garten and Melvin Garten. Being part of World War 2, his father was honoured with the Distinguished Service Cross in the year 1953. Jeffrey also has a brother named Allan Garten who is now a retired federal prosecutor by profession and is currently based in Portland.
In the year 1968, Jeffrey Garten passed out from Dartmouth College with a BA degree and later he pursued his master’s in the year 1972 and did his PhD in the year 1980 from the school of advanced international studies of John Hopkins University.
