Lovestory Of John's Father And Mother
Jack fell for Peggy when he saw her for the first time in Brooklyn. At that time, Jack was ill with tuberculosis.
After meeting Peggy, Jack got madly in love with her but knew that he couldn’t have her as he was entirely devoted to God.
Jack expressed his love for Peggy via platonic letters for almost ten years. Jack didn’t stop writing even when she was sent to Malawi to take care of people who suffered from leprosy.
All of a sudden, Peggy returned to Brooklyn after the demise of her father. Soon, Jack knew about her return and headed off to meet Peggy. Then, he showed up to her at a hospital and confessed his feelings, which nearly horrified Peggy.
Jack was able to melt her heart with his romantic gesture. The couple eventually got married and also dropped their work names: Brother Boniface and Sister Damien.
Likewise, they never fell out of love as their bond became stronger with the years. After surpassing two heart attacks in his 60s, Jack was told that he would die within two years.
But, Jack responded by claiming that his love for Peggy wouldn't let him die. He even succeeded in surviving another five years after the doctor's warning but eventually passed away in August 2010.
