The wealth of the top-25 rich equals 10% of India’s GDP
This year, 953 people joined the rich list. Last year there were 831. The number of billionaires in dollars has come down from 141 to 138. The wealth of the top-25 rich in the list is equal to 10% of India’s GDP. All 953 people have assets equal to 27% of GDP.
82 NRIs in the list
The maximum 246 people in the list are from Mumbai. There are 175 names from Delhi and 77 from Bengaluru. 82 NRIs are involved. The wealth of 344 rich people in the list has decreased this year.
According to the list, the fourth-richest Indian is L N Mittal, who is the chairman and CEO of ArcelorMittal, with a wealth of Rs 1,07,300 crore while Gautam Adani took the fifth position with a net worth of Rs 94,500 crore.
Billionaire banker Uday Kotak has been listed sixth with a wealth of Rs 94,100 crore and was followed by Cyrus S Poonawalla at seventh position with assets worth Rs 88,800 crore.
Cyrus Pallonji Mistry occupied the eighth spot with a wealth of Rs 76,800 crore and Shapoor Pallonji followed him at ninth spot with Rs 76,800 crore. Dilip Shanghvi came in last among top 10 Indians with net valuation worth Rs 71,500 crore.
While there has been a two per cent cumulative increase in wealth compared to last year, average wealth has declined by 11 per cent, shows the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List.
10 percent of GDP wealth
The report said that the value of the total wealth of the country’s top 25 rich people is equal to ten percent of India’s gross domestic product (GDP). At the same time, the total assets of 953 rich with assets of more than Rs 1,000 crore are equal to 27 percent of the country’s GDP.
According to the IIFL Wealth Hurun list, the total wealth of the rich has increased by two per cent this year. However, average property growth has fallen by 11 per cent. The wealth of 344 rich people in the list has decreased this year. At the same time, there are 112 rich people who have lagged behind the Rs 1,000 crore level.
According to the report, 246 i.e. 26 percent of rich Indians live in Mumbai. Delhi is home to 175 rich people, while 77 wealthy Indians live in Bangalore.
