In 1866, It founded by George and Charles in Cham, Switzerland. The founders were originally from the United States. In 1873, they opened their operation at Chippenham, Wiltshire. The Henri Nestle created a milk product and started marketing. The company merged with milk chocolate inventor Daniel Peter in 1879.

In 1996, the company merged its business with Dryers, which is the United States Ice Cream Business Company. They acquired Chef American for US$2.6 billion in the same year. They bought several other brands like San Pellegrino, D’Onofrio, Spillers Petfoods, and Ralston Purina. They collaborated with Cadbury to acquired Hershey’s to increase the company.

They acquired Delta Ice Cream for €240 million. Nestle became the most extensive ice maker after receiving the company.  In April 2007, they acquired Gerber for US$5.5 billion. They sold their shares of Alcon to Novartis in 2010.

They spend nearly $350 million on dermatologist research and development. In 2018, Nestle announced that they would lower 10% sugar in Kit Kat, Yorkie, and Aero. They also reduced sugar content in breakfast cereals in the United Kingdom. In 2017, the company bought back $3.5 billion. They acquired a stake in Blue Bottle in 2017. The company opened ten skincare research centers across the world.
