Timothy Bruce Schmit was born on October 30, 1947, in Oakland, California. He spent most of his childhood days in Sacramento, where he started playing in the folk music group Tim, Tom & Ron. Later, as the band evolved, they named it the “Contenders,” and then it was called the “New Breed.” Along with the band, he released the single “Green Eyed Woman” in 1965, which became a hit. In 1968, the group released the album “Feelin’ Glad.”

Schmit started his career at a young age when he began performing with the rock band the New Breed at local events and nightclubs. In 1968, he auditioned to be part of the music group Poco and started playing bass and vocals. From 1969 to 1977, Schmit appeared in nine music albums and two live albums of the group.
He was the writer and lead singer of the song “Keep on Tryin” which was the biggest hit of Poco. The song peaked at number fifty at the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Schmit also sang the backing vocals on Pretzel Logic, The Royal Scam, Never Let Her Slip Away, and many more.
In 1977, he joined the rock band Eagles and recorded several songs and music albums, including The Long Run, I Can’t Tell You Why, and others. The music group broke up in 1980 and later reunited 14 years later in 1994. In the same year, they released their reunion album Hell Freezes Over.
