Early Life & Biography
Clinton Earl Portis was born on 1 September 1981 in Laurel, Mississippi, the United States to Clint Portis and Channel Y. Hearn. His mother gave birth to two children before turning 19. His father left them, and his mother had a hard time rising the children on her own. To add worries, the area where they lived was filled with pickpockets and drugs. Clinton’s brother was also a talented athlete, but he also became addicted to drugs and was sent to prison.
Clinton was admitted to Gainesville High School and then to the University of Miami where he started his football career. He was selected in the football team and played for the University.

Clinton started his career in football when he was in college. He played for the University of Miami for Miami Hurricanes Football team. He became the second true freshman to start at running back since 1975 season. Portis set a school freshman record with five 100-yard performance and led his team with 838 yards and eight touchdowns on 143 carries in 10 games.
Before the 2004 season, the Broncos traded Portis to the Redskins for cornerback champion Bailey and a second-round draft pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. The Redskins signed a Portis eight-year contract worth $50.5 Million.
During 2009 in a week nine game versus the Atlanta Falcons, Portis suffered a concussion. This led him to miss the game. He later went to see a specialist and was officially placed on injured reserve. It took four months to get a clearance to play again.
