CMA First Stage – CMA Foundation Course

ICMAI hold all the examination for CMA. To become a CMA in India candidates need to qualify CMA Foundation. After clearing the 1st stage, the candidates need to clear exams for CMA Inter Exam, the candidates also need articleship. The last step towards becoming CA is the Final examination. Eligibility for CMA Foundation Admission:

  • A candidate should have passed Class 10 or equivalent from a recognized Board or Institution.
  • Passed Senior Secondary Examination under 10+2 scheme of a recognized Board or an Examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto or has passed National Diploma in Commerce Examination held by the All India Council for Technical Education or any State Board of Technical Education under the authority of the said All India Council, or the Diploma in Rural Service Examination conducted by the National Council of Higher Education.
  • Incumbents waiting for the result can apply for provisional admission

CMA Course Second Stage – CMA Intermediate Exam

Graduates or Foundation qualified candidates are eligible to take Registration to the Intermediate Course of the Institute.

Eligibility for CMA Inter Admission:

  • Passed Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2)and Foundation Course of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India/ Graduation in any discipline other than Fine Arts/ Foundation (Entry Level) Part I Examination of CAT of the Institute/ Foundation (Entry Level) Part I Examination and Competency Level Part II Examination of CAT of the Institute
  • Passed Foundation of ICSI/Intermediate of ICAI by what ever name called along with 10+2.

When to apply:

Registration for the ICAI course is open throughout the year However, Students desirous to appear for June Term Examination should apply before 31st January of that year and for December Term Examination should apply before 31st July of that year.

  • Students opting Oral Coaching mode can attend Oral coaching classes at Chapter/Regional Councils of the institute selected by them.
  • Students opting Postal Coaching mode shall have to submit answer to Postal test papers only. For attending special classes you may contact any Chapter/Regional Council of the institute as per your convenience.

CMA Practical Training Scheme

  • To develop among the students the necessary skill required to apply theoretical knowledge of cost and management accounting to practical situations in different professional fields.
  • Exposure to environments under which different organizations work.
  • Providing on-job experience of practical aspects of cost and management accounting.
  • Developing disciplined attitude required for a professional.
  • Creating awareness on ethical values in professional work.

Who are to undergo Practical Training

Every student having registered under Revised Syllabus 2008/Syllabus 2012, shall be required to undergo practical training for a period of 3 years on whole time basis to the satisfaction of council in any one or more of the organization specified in Appendix A, and in areas as specified in Appendix B for the recognition for training.

However, students for being eligible to make an application to appear in the final examination must

  • complete at least 6 months of Practical Training in any one or more of the organization specified in Appendix A, and in areas as specified in Appendix B; “or”
  • must have an experience of at least 6 months in any one or more of the organization specified in Appendix A, and in areas as specified in Appendix B , “or”
  • enroll for the I- CMA Training Module as indicated in Appendix C
