JEE Advanced 2019 to be Held in Online Mode Only. The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has taken the decision to conduct the JEE Advanced exam online from the year 2019. As per the meeting held at IIT, Madras on Sunday this decision has been made. IIT, Madras Director & JAB Chairman Bhaskar Ramamurthi said that “We have taken a decision that the JEE (Advanced) exam will be conducted online from 2019 onwards. There are many advantages in conducting the exam online”. JEE Advanced exam is a gateway for admission to engineering & other courses offered by Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) across India. It is a national level examination regulated by the IITs on rotation basis. For the year 2019, it will be organized by IIT, Kanpur. Every year a large number of students appear for this exam.
As the IIT JEE exam will be conducted online, it will be a massive change for the students. A JAB member said “To make logistics and evaluations easier it was decided today that the JEE Advanced should be made online”. This decision has been made to prevent mistakes like those faced last year when 18 bonus marks were given to candidates who took JEE Advanced 2017 exam because of printing and translation mistakes in the question paper. It will also take care of security issues because there will be no issues for the leak of question papers.
They also said that printing cost would drop with the online version and the board will be able to announce the result faster. Ramamurthy said that students were unable to change their answers in multiple choice questions in the offline (written) exam. With the online mode they can go back and change their answers easily.
In terms of the JEE Main 2019 examination, no changes will be done in the exam mode. So, students will have options to choose any one from the online and offline mode. The JAB (Joint Admission Board) has also decided to conduct mock tests for candidates. Top 2, 20,000 scorers of the JEE Main examination will be able to write the JEE Advanced 2019 examination.
